An outside tap is one of the most useful small jobs you can have done — no more hoses running through the kitchen window. Fitted properly, it will not freeze, will not leak into the wall and will not risk contaminating your mains supply.

A clean hole is drilled through the wall and pipework run and clipped neatly.
Tap, isolation valve and check valve are fitted and the hole sealed.
Water is run, joints are checked, and you are shown how to isolate it for winter.
Yorkshire winters can freeze an outside tap solid, and a frozen pipe can split inside the wall. Each autumn, shut the internal isolation valve and open the outside tap to drain it. A tap cover adds extra protection.
